Victorian style in Namibia

The Victorian fashionistas of Southern Africa would have to be Namibia's Herero people.

Their traditional dress is derived from the Victorian era and consists of an enormous crinoline worn over a several petticoats and a distinctive hat made from rolled cloth and shaped like cow horns.

These amazing portraits by Jim Naughten depict the Herero's Victorian era dress and paramilitary costume.
