Our Story

Our Story / Sourcing Vintage Africa Pictures in Africa + Kellie visiting Lake Tana's Narga Selassie Monastery in Ethiopia | Safari Fusion www.safarifusion.com.au

OWNER / CREATOR / KELLIE SHEARWOOD
The African continent captured Kellie's heart more then 27 years ago, and since that first visit back in the early 1990s she has been fortunate to return to make new discoveries almost every year. Kellie's love for travel adventures in Africa grew into a deep appreciation for the artistic talents of its people, the amazing art and crafts, the incredible architecture and interior design.

"I was always searching for that rarely visited, virtually unseen place in my previous career in travel and now use this skill to source amazing contemporary African art, crafts and decor for my store, Safari Fusion."

SAFARI FUSION
Founded in 2009, Safari Fusion curates a collection of contemporary African designed and crafted homewares, decor, crafts and art. It is all about colour, individuality and the story behind the piece and sources unique, handmade, high quality craft / art not always seen in Australia.

Safari Fusion believes in trade not aid, and pays a fair price to its African artisans either directly or through the makers cooperative. By doing so the artisans benefit directly along with their family and community.

A Safari Fusion craft / art piece is truly special, it tells a story and creates conversation, but more importantly it keeps the exquisite traditional art forms and skills of Africa's artisans evolving.
