The colours of Monkeybiz

Huge admiration for the women of Monkeybiz who craft the most incredible, colourful and quirky animal creations in Cape Town / South Africa.

Starting more then 20 years, Monkeybiz is a non-profit organisation that empowers some of Cape Town's most disadvantaged women. The township beading communities are mentored and supported by Monkeybiz who supply each artisan with richly-coloured glass beads and other materials free of charge. The women select the colours and create their own patterns resulting in a one-of-a-kind quirky African animal. Once a month on market day, all the creations are collected from the beading communities with each artisan payed for their work immediately, enabling them to earn a regular income and support their family.
