Pretty protea

Pretty protea

We are in the final month of Winter (woo hoo!) and with Spring just around the corner there is no better way to freshen up your home then with flowers.

The stylish and sculptural King Protea is the national flower of South Africa and part of their coat of arms. You can find these beauties in their natural state in the fynbos region of the Western Cape, from the Cederberg Mountains to Cape Town's Table Mountain and as far east as Grahamstown.

Lucky for us this beautiful giant of the Protea family is available in Australia and can be found as a cut flower at your local florist in season over Spring and Summer.

As you can see from these lovely pictures, the King Protea is striking displayed either singularly in a vase or in multiples; but best of all they can last up to a month in water.
