Living small in Woodstock

Living small in Woodstock

An unassuming, semi-detached heritage home in Cape Town's creative hub of Woodstock is an outstanding example of how living small does not mean forgoing a stylish and functional interior.

The 110 year old home's internal space measures just 116m², and with no changes permitted to the facade and roof it meant working within the existing footprint. Concessions were made for the installation of two roof windows to capture views of Table Mountain whilst the home's original brick and timber were exposed and hardwood floors restored.

The use of dark colours, black, charcoal and grey help zone the spaces and also create an airy feel to the open-plan living and dining area. Whilst textured furnishings including leather, timber, steel and crochet plus selective statement craft / art pieces, help create an interesting juxtaposition of modern and heritage.
