Lighting up rubbish

Lighting up rubbish

It has been many years since we posted about the clever creatives Magpie Art Collective in Barrydale, South Africa; so we thought it was time to revisit to view more of their works.

Their beautiful lights are something to behold, with lots of imagination and encouraging locals who dispose of their plastic and other waste in the 'Magpie' street-side recycling bins, this collective of designers and makers take what was once rubbish and literally light it up.

Following are some of our favourite Magpie recent works, chandeliers and art pieces all created from recycled plastic, glass, metal, wire and twigs; along with an image of their gallery space.

To view more of their lighting creations see our previous Safari Journal post or visit the Magpie Art Collective.
