Desert oasis

Desert oasis

I love the Sahara Desert; the constant changing light, the colour of its sands, its endless vistas, lush date palm oasis and the feeling of peace and tranquility being so far removed from modern day civilization.

I came across the beautiful lodge Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary, located in the remote Dakhla Oasis in western Egypt, and decided it must go on my travel 'bucket list'.

The lodge interiors are a mesmerizing mix of typical Saharan mud architecture and modern classic furnishings; the result is a simple but evocative desert getaway.
