Mud Cloth Ottoman (cross)
- The Story
For centuries the Bambara people have used Bogolan [Bogolanfini] or Mud Cloth to mark major life events. This quintessential textile from Mali, made from narrow strips of cotton cloth stitched together by hand, is adorned with symbolic geometric designs created with iron-rich mud.
Created for Safari Fusion, a handcrafted frame made from sustainable timber is covered in foam and finished in Malian produced cotton Mud Cloth. Invisible black plastic glides allow the ottoman to float off the floor.
Each Mud Cloth textile is created using traditional techniques, rustic with slight imperfections, therefore no two ottomans are exactly the same. Perfect as additional seating in the living room or in the bedroom as a pair at the foot of the bed.
